The Los Angeles Kings twitter account has always been known for being slightly wittier than other teams but last night they went a little too far. This is what they said:

“Galiardi gets a penalty for running over Quick. Power Play Kings. Kopitar just got sexually assaulted in front of Niemi.”

This may seem like a funny joke that is no big deal but sexual assault is nothing to joke about. The King’s twitter account has since deleted the tweet and issued the following apology:

We apologize for the tweets that came from a guest of our organization. They were inappropriate and do not reflect the LA Kings.

— LA Kings (@LAKings) May 22, 2013

The guest was a morning radio show host named Kevin Ryder. He is a popular in the Los Angeles area and was taking over the account to attract fans. Ryder seemed to more upset by the media talking about his tweet then the actual people that were offended by it in his first apology via twitter:

“Should I apologize? I apologize to the Kings. Not to Deadspin, or ESPN, or any other group taking my joke out of context to be outraged by.”

He has since seen the light an issued an actual apology:

(1 of 2) My apology. I made a poor choice in the wording of my tweet. I wish I had used different words. If you were hurt by me, I’m sorry.

— Kevin Ryder(@thekevinryder) May 22, 2013

(2 of 2) I get angry when groups like Deadspin see it as kindling to make a fire for themselves. That’s worse than my choice of words.

— Kevin Ryder(@thekevinryder) May 22, 2013

April 25: Karlsson will be playing in tonight’s game against the Capitals.

April 24: The news all around twitter today is that Erik Karlsson could return to the Ottawa Senators lineup tomorrow in their game against the Washington Capitals. He skated in practice today with his regular defense partner Marc Methot. He will be making the trip to Washington with his team and participating in the morning skate where he will decide whether or not he is ready to play.

According to Bob Mckenzie if Karlsson does return tomorrow it will be 10 weeks to the day since the injury occurred. Also, it was reported by Ian Mendes that whenever Karlsson does take the ice again he will do so in cut-resistant socks.

Karlsson’s possible return isn’t the only news about him spreading on twitter today. The star defenseman now has his very own twitter account. His handle is @ErikKarlsson65 if you want to give him a follow, he has been verified. And while you our following Karlsson give us a follow too @TMMotS.
