Alright let’s start this update in the east and make our way over to the west. New Jersey Devils goalie, Martin Brodeur should be ready to start on Thursday according to Rich Chere of the Star-Ledger. He may however be dressing as a back-up.

David Krejci of the Boston Bruins took a shot off the knee on Sunday and his status is still unknown according to Steve Conroy of the Boston Herald. He left the arena with a limp but did not appear to have a brace on.

March 3, 2013; Detroit, MI, USA; Detroit Red Wings defenseman Kyle Quincey (27) during the game against the Chicago Blackhawks at the Joe Louis Arena.
Lots of injury updates coming out of Detroit. According to Ted Kulfan of the Detroit News Kyle Quincey is expected to be out of the Detroit Red Wings line up for 4-6 weeks. Quincey has multiple fractures but there has been no decision yet as to whether or not he will undergo surgery. Ansar Khan of Mlive.com reported that Darren Helm is hoping his injury is only a minor setback and the decision hasn’t been made on whether he will travel with the team to California. Khan also reported that Todd Bertuzzi skated for five minutes last week but didn’t feel good. Bertuzzi is hoping to avoid surgery for his disc issues.

Chicago Blackhawks fans are worried about the condition of Marian Hossa. He left last night’s game after taking a hit in the first period. CSN Chicago’s Tracey Myers reported that Coach Joel Quenneville said that the injury is “not bad, day-to-day”. There should be more news on his condition later today.

The San Jose Sharks have activated Martin Havlat from IR and placed Tim Kennedy on IR according to David Pollack of Mecury News. That’s all for today’s injury updates, keep checking back for more.

With a shortened season, everyone who knows the game of hockey was expecting there to be a rash of injuries, especially to start the season. Players didn’t have the luxury of easing into the high paced game with no exhibition and an abbreviated training camp. Now the team’s medical staffs are being kept extra busy and will be relied upon to ensure star players aren’t returning to early that could jeopardize the rest of this season, or perhaps a more long-term effect.

With that, here’s the latest injury news from around the league.

<img class="alignright size-medium wp-image-7063" title="NHL: Chicago Blackhawks at Detroit Red Wings March 4, 2012; Detroit, MI, USA; Chicago Blackhawks right wing Jamal Mayers (22) and Detroit Red Wings center Darren Helm (43) wait for linesman Mark Shewchyk (92) to drop the puck for a face-off at Joe Louis Arena.
Bruce Garrioch reports via Twitter that forward Stephen Weiss is battling a lower-body injury. It’s uncertain how much time Weiss will miss.

From the dessert, Mathew Lombardi left last night’s game with an upper-body injury and did not return, courtesy of the official Twitter account of the Phoenix Coyotes. Like Weiss, it is not yet known how long Lombardi will be out.

Finally, from the city of brotherly love, the Flyers’ Andrej Meszaros is considered day-to-day with a shoulder injury according to Sam Carchidi via Twitter.

Flyers forward Daniel Briere, who has yet to play a game this season, has a 50-50 chance of returning this weekend according to GM, Paul Holmgren. MyNHLtraderumors.com captured the quote from Holmgren.
