So, I was doing my Joffrey Lupul injury update and I needed to find a picture to add. I was pleasantly surprised by what I found. A lot of these pictures didn’t exactly fit the piece I was doing but I really felt that they need to be shared. Since its looking like we won’t get to see Lupul’s face in the Toronto Maple Leafs game tomorrow night, I hope this gives you your fill. So here it is the many faces of Joffrey Lupul.

Here’s hoping this made you laugh a little I know it brightened my day. Let’s hope Lupul sees this and it helps him recover, after all laughter is the best medicine.

Bagpipe Mishap: A seemingly harmless yet extremely embarrassing hobby took a tragic turn for Leafs goaltender Glenn Healy. In 2000, he cut his hand while cleaning his bagpipes. He needed 40 stitches but luckily didn’t miss any game time as the injury took place during the off season. Just another reason to not play the bagpipes.

Farm Boy Blues: In 1985, Pat Verbeek was working on his family farm when a freak accident caused a piece of machinery to slice off his thumb. His brother rushed him to the nearest hospital but he was in such a hurry he forgot the thumb. Verbeek’s father would bring the thumb later and the doctors would be able to reattach it.

Delicious and Dangerous: Last season around this time Dustin Penner threw out his back eating pancakes. There isn’t much else to say about this, but Penner did say that the pancakes were delicious (I know you were all wondering).

Snakebite: In 2000, Sami Salo (who is known for being the most injured player in the NHL) was bitten by a venomous snake in Finland while playing golf. He missed two games.

Tugnutt Pulls Groin: Ron Tugnutt (haha Tugnutt) pulled his groin while tying his shoes. I have to admit, this one only made the list because the name made me laugh.

Sarah Palin Hip-breaker: When she came to St. Louis for a ceremonial puck drop, Sarah Palin caused an injury before the game even started. Manny Legace was so excited to see the politician he tripped over the carpet and broke his hip.

Pants on Fire: In 1930s, a Quebec Junior team’s goalie was literally on fire. He was hit by a puck igniting a box of matches he kept in his pocket (doesn’t every goalie keep a box of matches in their pocket). Luckily his teammates were able to put him out.

Full Contact Spectator Sport: Watching the game proved just as dangerous as playing the game for the Leafs Joe Klukay in 1949. An opposing player’s stick hit him while watching the game after being injured. He was knocked out cold and had to go to the hospital.

Cart Accident: In 2008, Erik Johnson got his foot stuck in between the accelerator and brake of a golf cart. The incident caused him to tear both the ACL and MCL in his right knee.

I’m on a Boat: While sailing with his father in Sweden, Mikael Renberg fell off the boat and cut his arm on the propeller. Although it was an unlucky incident, he was lucky in that there was no nerve damage. A year later he gets a blister on his finger while tying his skates. The blister became severely infected which almost resulted in the amputation of his hand.
