If and when the 2012-13 NHL season gets underway this page will award players of the week honors to the players who are, you guessed it, the players of the week. There will be one forward, one defenseman and one goalie from both conferences selected each week. Yes, stats will play a big role when selecting the players of the week, so once a week there will also be an “Unsung Hero” of the week and that will be awarded to the player who was most valuable to his team by doing the little things like hitting, blocking shots, creating energy and killing penalties. Now, lets get this unnecessary lockout over with and drop the puck on the NHL season already!
