NHL 17 EA Sports Cover Voting Underway, One Representative From Each World Cup of Hockey Team

NHL 17 EA Sports cover voting is underway. The first round is set to take place between April 26th – May 2nd, round two on May 3rd – May 9th, with the third/final round on May 10th – May 16th.

Fans will have eight selections to choose from – one player representing each World Cup of Hockey participant.

To vote, you can visit NHL.com/covervote or use Twitter with the hashtag of your choice. You can vote as many times as you’d like. (sorry folks no write-in John Scott this time around)

Fans will also be able to double their vote for their favorite picks when using the player-specific hashtags every Thursday for “Twitter Vote Thursdays.”

EA SPORTS also released the all-new NHL 17 Vision Trailer, an inside look at the development of NHL 17 and how the team is working directly with fans to build the biggest and most exciting hockey game to date. Whether you’re challenging a friend on the couch or building a team to compete at the most elite level, see how NHL 17 gives you the power to shape your hockey legacy no matter how you play the game. Fans can also sign up to become an EA SPORTS NHL® 17 Insider and get early access to news, trailers, behind-the-scenes videos, exclusive content and more.

*While the fan vote will decide the cover, in the event of a draw, vote tampering or extenuating circumstances, EA reserves the right to select the athletes ultimately used for EA SPORTS NHL 17’s cover.

That final starred note is of interest. We might start seeing a lot more of that in fan votes after this year’s All-Star Game debacle. With the evolution of social media, it’s become increasingly difficult to avoid tampering.

We saw it this year with John Scott in the sports world, and most recently in Britain over the naming of a research vessel named “Boaty McBoatface”.

It seems amusing to some individuals to abuse any voting process with potential flaws, but this is ultimately the end result when the general public shows a lack of maturity – your choices are limited, and could ultimately be deemed irrelevant if the process is abused by another individual/or group of people.

NHL 17 EA Sports Cover Voting: Round 1

The only somewhat questionable choice of the below eight selections is Victor Hedman over fellow countrymen Erik Karlsson.

Arguments can be made for other inclusions, but if we’re judging the contest on the following participants, McDavid, Benn, and Kopitar should be the front-runners.
