2015 NHL Mock Draft 2.0

The trade deadline has come and gone, and after all those transactions, it is now crystal clear which teams are going for it all this season and those who aren’t. In fact, just a week or so after the deadline, a couple teams have already been eliminated from playoff contention. This just goes to show how historically bad some teams’ records have been this season. I wonder why.

Anyways, teams like Buffalo, Edmonton, and Arizona have at least something to look forward to in the spring (besides golfing)- and that is the entry draft. So judging by the current standings, I put together another 2015 NHL mock draft (you can see last month’s here) for the teams that are in a lottery spot (the top 14 picks).

Agree or disagree? Comment below!

player. 12. Out of all the teams in the league, I actually think that McDavid going to Buffalo willl be the best scenario. After Crosby rejuvinated Pittsburgh and the franchise’s financial success, McDavid could do the same for a team who plays in a city that is also home to other unlucky professional sports teams like the Bills. Just imagine a McDavid-Reinhart-Kane powerplay line.. C. Erie Otters (OHL). Connor McDavid. 1

148. Like I said before, I highly doubt that the Oilers will keep this pick if they get it. Eichel is another fast forward prospect with exceptional skill, but if they trade down to number 3, they will likely get a much-needed big defenseman in Noah Hannifin and get a boatload of assets in return from the trade.. C. Boston U (NCAA). Jack Eichel. 2. player

player. 121. If they don’t trade up to get a much-needed centre like Jack Eichel, the Coyotes will likely select the tall and fast Hannifin. This guy could probably go number 1 in a weaker draft, but is getting a bit overshadowed by the top two guys in this one. A Hannifin-OEL defensive unit sounds intimidating.. D. Boston C (NCAA). Noah Hannifin. 3

5. player. 109. He is the leading scorer in the OHL and has no McDavid-like or any other superstar as a linemate (besides Coyotes prospect Christian Dvorak). The Hurricanes need more skilled top-six forwards and this guy would fit in to that category. He is a bit underrated in my opinion.. RW. London Knights (OHL). Mitch Marner

I had this big Czech lower last month due to the supply of centers in this draft, but after a few changes in the standings, Zacha could land with the Devils. He is adapting very well in North America and will be a big, skilled forward the Devils desperately need.. C. Sarnia Sting (OHL). Pavel Zacha. 7. player. 85

Rantanen is kind of wild card in this draft. He performed well at the world juniors, but it is hard to compare him to the rest of the draft. That being said, the Flyers will likely take him if he falls into their lap at this point.. RW. TPS (Finland). Mikko Rantanen. 8. player. 68

Zach Werenski. 9. player. 119. A big defenceman who will really help out Dallas’ poor back end. If the Stars get to pick at this spot, they will probably have the options of picking other defencemen like the all-around Ivan Provorov or the smooth-skating Oliver Kylington as well.. D. Michigan (NCAA)

player. 103. He is one of the fastest defencemen in the draft and has quite a lot of potential because of his skill and highlight reel plays.. D. AIK (Sweden). Oliver Kylington. 10

Timo Meier. 11. player. 87. . RW. Halifax Mooseheads (QMJHL)

12. player. 91. . D. Brandon Wheat Kings(WHL). Ivan Provorov

. C. Seattle Thunderbirds (WHL). Matthew Barzal. 13. player. 120

Saint John Sea Dogs (QMJHL). Jakub Zboril. 14. player. 30. . D
