NHL News and Links - Quick Shifts: August 29th Edition

NHL Quick Shifts is a daily series where we gather up the latest NHL news and links from the FanSided NHL blogosphere, as well as other NHL / hockey blogs. So with that, here is today’s edition of Quick Shifts!

  • Carolina Hurricanes Relocation Rumors Are Ridiculous – The big rumor this week is that the NHL is looking to expand to several new markets, including Las Vegas. Still, that has not stopped some from believing that the NHL will move into Sin City via relocation. The NHL has made it clear that it will do all it can to keep a team in place (unless the situation is hopeless, like it was in Atlanta). Dan Patrick of ESPN reported that his sources have told him that the Carolina Hurricanes are one of two teams being considered to be relocated to Las Vegas. The only problem is Patrick has a history of trashing the Hurricanes and their owner, Peter Karmanos Jr. (mostly for moving the team from Hartford). So take that report with a grain of salt. • Arizona Coyotes Most Anticipated Matchup – Howlin Hockey wants your input on which Arizona Coyotes matchup you are most excited for this season. Head on over to the site and check out their great coverage of the Coyotes. [Howlin Hockey]
  • Puck Daddy Power Rankings – Another edition of Puck Daddy’s popular Power Rankings are out; this one deals with such subjects as P.K. Subban and the captaincy, jersey piping, and Sidney Crosby‘s stress. Always a funny and entertaining read. [Puck Daddy]
