Florida Panthers Make Fans Suffer; Remove Cheerleaders

When you hear the name Florida Panthers not a lot of good things come to mind. Now the ownership group has chosen to get rid of the Panthers cheerleaders. Once again making their fans suffer.

While this news broke two days ago it still seems a little strange. Of all the things the Panthers should change they choose cheerleaders? The on ice product has been a near joke for years, and the one thing the Florida Panthers are known for is throwing rats on the ice. Granted ice girls or cheerleaders really have nothing to do with NHL hockey, but then again the Panthers

don’t often play NHL hockey.

This decision makes me wonder how bad the finances are in the Florida Panthers front offices. If cutting or basically firing a group of people to say what can’t really be that much money is needed than the NHL needs to take a better look at if keeping the Panthers in South Florida is really the right move.

What’s the next move? Removing cup holders or maybe having the fans clean the arena after a game. Look, I’m not saying that I’m in favor of ice girls, or cheerleaders, but we are talking about peoples jobs. If a NHL team is so desperate to save money that they start taking away from in-game entrainment than there are bigger problems in the future.  A winning season could fix everything, but as it stands today that may still not be enough to save the Panthers of South Florida.
