Jay Durant of Global TV in Vancouver tweeted today that Ryan Miller was seen getting off a flight in Vancouver. Later in the day Bob McKenzie of TSN reported that Vancouver is talking to Ryan Miller.
This is a move that the Canucks want to make and should try to lock up on Tuesday. This is a team that was looking great last December before “Forth-Line-Brawl Gate” happened. Are the Canucks a goalie away from a Stanley Cup? I don’t think so but with nearly $18 million in cap space and 18 players signed according to Capgeek.com they maybe able to sign Miller and another player of consequence (if only they could have convinced Kesler to stay).
This would also be a great move for Ryan Miller as this is probably the closest thing he is going to get to a contender that has serious questions at goal. If Eddie Lack is the answer at goal in Vancouver than he is still a year or two away from being ready and spending those years under a professional like Miller would help him greatly. Also Miller needs to take into consideration that if a team is competing for a cup, they probably don’t need a goalie. The closest team to that is the Blues and unless he goes back to St. Louis he may have found his best option. At least in Vancouver he would be able to ride out the rest of his career on a team that is going to try and win.
This deal makes sense for everyone involved, unless Miller wants to give the Blues another shot.
