In the TMMOTS NHL Weekly Round Table the staff writers of Too Many Men On The Site will answer an NHL / hockey related question.

If you were given the keys to a NHL franchise and allowed to select any current goaltender in the NHL, which one would you build a franchise around? Why?

Semyon Varlamov

At 26-years-old the upside is hard to ignore. Varlamov, despite some “issues” earlier in the season, put up top 3 SV% .927. He is under contract for another five years, at a cap hit of $5,900,000, making his a steal as long as he stays healthy. I know there are better netminders out there, but they are aging, and I want upside and potential, not top of the mountain and inching towards declining
