The General Manager Corner: Free Agent Defensemen

With NHL free agency just a short time away, The General Manager Corner takes an in-depth look at the available players able to sign with new teams come July 1st.  We previously focused on the unrestricted free agent goalies (you can read about it here: The General Manager Corner: Free Agent Goalies) in this space.  Today we are going to take a look at unrestricted free agent defensemen on the market and available to your favorite team.

A few weeks ago this list was a little more appealing.  However the re-signings of Kimmo Timonen in Philadelphia and Andrei Markov in Montreal has made an already weak group paper-thin at this point.  Fortunately for us that won’t stop a general manager from spending someone else’s cash to bring in one of these names (note that we only focused on unrestricted free agents and ignored restricted free agents due to the remote chances any one of significance is signed to an offer sheet).
