Before the Hockey Hall of Fame (HHOF) selection committee determines the class of 2014 on Monday, we should look at the candidates. Last year, Chris Chelios, Scott Niedermayer, Brendan Shanahan, women`s hockey pioneer Geraldine Heaney, and legendary builder Fred Shero. This year`s list of candidates looks quite strong, including a new crop of eligible players like Dominik Hasek and Peter Forsberg, as well as some older candidates like Eric Lindros who arguably deserve the nod.

On top of the maximum amount of four players, two builders, and one official being inducted this year, 2014 Elmer Ferguson Memorial Award winner Kevin Allen will be honored by the HHOF after 30 years of NHL reporting in the United States. Chicago Blackhawks play-by-play announcer Pat Foley will also be honored after receiving the prestigious Foster Hewitt Memorial Award for broadcasting.
