This series has had almost everything from hits to scoring to dirty play. Tonight the Montreal Canadiens will try to avoid being sent to the golf course. For the Rangers it is about not following in the San Jose Sharks footsteps.
After game five and the cheap-shots, and the goals, and Lundqvist falling apart there’s not much more that could happen in a hockey game. But, with all the bad blood boiling between these two teams I’m sure someone will take a run at overshadowing the hockey game.
The New York Rangers need to clear their heads and focus on the task at hand. Allow the Habs to crawl back into this series will be a mistake. I wouldn’t expect to see Lundqvist have a repeat performance of game five, and if he is able to stay on his game the Canadiens may need to bring out the water bottles and get something in his eyes; because Lundqvist has proven he can shutdown the Canadiens.
For Montreal it is about being a pain the Rangers back side. They need to forecheck hard, and crash the net as often as possible. It would be a great idea for the Canadiens defense to lock down the center of the ice and not allow the Ranger to gain any speed coming out of their zone. Players like St. Louis have excelled during this series in-part because they have been given room to work.
This is one series I wouldn’t mind seeing go to a game seven.
