Noteable Noteables:

  • It took to Game 5, but on Friday we finally saw the New York Rangers team we expected to see in this series with the Pittsburgh Penguins. New York played their first full 60-minute effort and defeated the Penguins 5-1 at Consol Energy Center to force a Game 6 back in New York. The Penguins find themselves in familiar territory as two of their last three playoff series have ended with Game 6 Pittsburgh wins on the road. The Rangers got Chris Kreider back in Game 4, and after shaking off some of  the rust after missing 19 games, he was able to contribute to the score sheet in Game 5 with a goal. Kreider could play a big role in extending the series to Game 7. [NHL.com]
  • The Minnesota Wild bounced back in a big way in their two games at home in their series with the Chicago Blackhawks. Not only did they tie up the series at two games apiece, but they outscored Chicago 8-2. Minnesota’s defense played a big part in the two wins, limiting the Blackhawks to 39 shots in 120 minutes of play. Chicago still is without the services of forward Andrew Shaw, and will also be without Brandon Bollig, who was suspended two games for boarding Keith Ballard. Minnesota is expected to be without Matt Moulson, who was scratched with an unspecified injury before Game 4, as well as Ballard. [NHL.com]
