The Pittsburgh Penguins have some of the NHL’s élite talent, and last night Evgeni Malkin made the New York Rangers defense disappear. But, it wasn’t enough the Rangers went on to route the Penguins 5-1.
Malkin has scored 6 times in 11 playoff games, but none if his goals were of this quality, it took an amazing amount of determination.
This goal just goes to show you what talent can do. Evgeni Malkin is under contract until 2021-2022 and starting next season he will be a $9,500,000 cap hit for the Penguins. He also has a No Movement Clause. Call me crazy, and I’m sure some of you will, but I cold see the Penguins trying to move him in a few years. Over the past two season Malkin has only played in 91 games. Bring up questions about his durability.

Points aside, the Penguins are going to pay a ton of money to a player with top-level talent, that can’t stay out of the trainers room. Granted, there are not many teams that wouldn’t roll the dice on Malkin; he has the ability to take over a game.
