Martin St. Louis Is Dealing With His Mothers Death

Every once in a while the NHL Playoffs don’t seem so important. Today is one of those days. New York rangers forward Martin St. Louis is dealing with the loss of his mother.

News broke this afternoon of the tragic passing of St. Louis mother France; she passed away Thursday at the age of 63. After getting the news, St. Louis caught a flight back home to Montreal to be with his family.

“Your heart just drops,” goaltender Cam Talbot, one of a handful of Rangers to practice Friday, told Newsday. “We’re all thinking about him in his time of need.” [NHL]

It is unclear at this point if St. Louis will rejoin his team for game five tonight. St. Louis has managed to put up only six points in 11 playoff games. Despite not contributing anything to the score sheet during the Pittsburgh series; if St. Louis is unable to go it will be a divisive advantage for the Penguins.

For at least the time being I think hockey will take a back seat, and it should
