Boston Bruins @ Montreal Canadiens 7:30 PM NBCSN [ Series: MTL 2-1 ]

Anaheim Ducks @ Los Angeles Kings 10:00 PM NBCSN [ Series: LAK 2-0 ]

Las Night’s Results:

Pittsburgh Penguins 4 New York Rangers 2 [ Series: PIT 3-1 ]

Noteable Noteables:

  • The Boston Bruins were simply out coached in Game 3 by the Montreal Canadiens. Michele Therrien moved Brendan Gallagher up to the top line and placed Thomas Vanek on the second line. Vanek set up Tomas Plekanec‘s goal halfway through the first to give Montreal a 1-0 lead. Meanwhile on the Boston side, the top line of Krejci, Lucic, and Iginla has been stuck in a bit of a cold spell lately. Iginla did score a goal in Game 3, but the line combined for only four shots all game. The Bruins also committed several mistakes on defense that led to a 4-2 Montreal win. With a win tonight, the Canadiens can hold on to the home ice advantage they secured in Game 1. [NHL.com]
  • This is the fifth time in three seasons that the Los Angeles Kings return home for Game 3 with a 2-0 series lead. All five times the Kings have gone on to take a 3-0 lead. With the Kings on a six game winning streak, a 3-0 deficit would all but spell the end of the Anaheim Ducks post season run. However, the Kings should know better than any team that a 3-0 lead means nothing if you cannot close out the series, as the San Jose Sharks found out at the hands of LA. In the first two games the Ducks have been outscored 6-3, and have battled the Kings in terms of puck possession, but Anaheim has not gotten quality chances on offense. The Kings offense has been clicking on all cylinders and they are getting scoring from their top and bottom lines. [NHL.com]
