Noteable Noteables:

  • The Montreal Canadiens spent their time between games focusing on their power play. Montreal went 0-3 on the man advantage in Game 1. Tampa Bay Lightning goaltender Ben Bishop was on the ice working in full pads on Thursday, however he is not expected to return to the lineup anytime soon. Anders Lindback did earn a vote of confidence in Game 1, but he did show he can play well enough to give the Tampa Bay Lightning a chance to win. [ NHL.com ]
  • The Boston Bruins and Detroit Red Wings are the last series to get started in the 2013-14 playoffs. Detroit won three of four meetings during the regular season. This is also the first time these two teams have met in the Stanley Cup Playoffs since 1957. The Bruins are the top seed in the East, and due to realignment, the Red Wings are the newcomers in a Wild Card spot. While Boston may be favored by most in the this match up, Detroit beat the odds and qualified for the post season and has advanced to the next round in 5 out of the last 6 years. [ NHL.com ]
  • Ryan Getzlaf gave the Anaheim Ducks a scare when he took a Tyler Seguin slapshot to the face. Remarkably, the damage he sustained will not keep him out of Game 2 of the playoffs. Getzlaf was stitched up and luckily the damage ended there. The Dallas Stars looked like the inexperienced post season team they are in the first two periods of Game 1, however they seemed to finally find their footing in the third. Now that they the first game jitters behind them, they will look to bounce back in Game 2. [ NHL.com ]
