Rumor: Washington Capitals To Part Ways With McPhee and Oates

The Nashville Predators may not be the only ones making big changes today. According to a tweet from David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, there are rumblings that the Washington Capitals may be on the verge of firing GM George McPhee and head coach Adam Oates.

All of this comes after a disappointing season in DC that saw the Capitals miss the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time since 2007.

Earlier today, as was reported by Puckk Daddy, Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin tried to avoid blaming the coaching staff and the front office in the Capitals failures this season. Instead he said the blame was solely on the players who failed to get the job done.

However, it appears that it will be another off season of change for Washington.
