NHL Channel Surfing: April 8th Edition

Channel Surfing is Too Many Men On The Site’s quick guide to tonight’s NHL action, as well as any other interesting broadcasts in the world of hockey. Included is a list of the scheduled games, game notes, as well as a pregame warm up song.

Detroit Red Wings @ Buffalo Sabres 7:00 PM

Ottawa Senators @ New York Islanders 7:00 PM

Carolina Hurricanes @ New York Rangers 7:00 PM

Phoenix Coyotes @ Columbus Blue Jackets 7:00 PM

Toronto Maple Leafs @ Tampa Bay Lightning 7:30 PM

Philadelphia Flyers @ Florida Panthers 7:30 PM

Washington Capitals @ St. Louis Blues 8:00 PM

Boston Bruins @ Minnesota Wild 8:00 PM

Nashville Predators @ Dallas Stars 8:30 PM

Colorado Avalanche @ Edmonton Oilers 9:30 PM

Noteable Noteables:

  • The Nashville Predators are mathematically still alive in the Wild Card race and currently in a three game winning streak. However, a regulation loss to Dallas will be enough to eliminate them. Dallas is still in a dogfight with the Phoenix Coyotes for the final spot. [ ]
  • Tonight is the final home game for the Columbus Blue Jackets, before they set off to play four games in five nights on the road to close things out. The Blue Jackets are hoping the busy stretch ends with the franchise’s second playoff birth since joining the NHL in 2000. The Phoenix Coyotes are also fighting for a playoff birth in the West with the Dallas Stars. [ ]
  • The faint glimmer of hope for the Toronto Maple Leafs faded this weekend and their playoff chances are looking slim. Even if they win out, the best they can finish is with 90 points. If the Leafs are to sneak into the last Wild Card spot they are going to need major help from other teams. [ ]

Best Dressed:

Tonight’s best dressed goes to the Carolina Hurricanes and the New York Rangers.
