NHL Names 3 Stars For March

March is a hard month for NHL teams, it can make or break your season. But, for some players they were able to handle the pressure and rise to the top. This afternoon the NHL named their three stars for the month of March.

3rd Star: Claude  Giroux, Philadelphia Flyers. He had  15 assists and 21 points to help the Flyers complete a 9-3-2 month. In the 14 GP Giroux posted at least one point in 11  of the games. This season Giroux has been scoring at a pace that ranks him 3rd over all in the NHL (25G, 53A).

2nd Star: Gustav Nyquist, Detroit Red Wings. This kid has been sick, and is scoring at a crazy pace. He has been a bright spot on what some would call a struggling Red Wings team. At only 24-years-old Nyquist leads the Red Wingsith 27 goals and is tied for second with 45 points in 50 games.

1st Star: Jarome Iginla, Boston Bruins. Iginla has scored on 31% (13  of 42) of his shots, a number that made me double-check if it was true. During the month of March, and during the Bruins crazy winning streak Ignila had 4 multi-goal games and scored 5 game-winning goals. He also hit a mile stone last month scoring his 560th career goal tying Guy Lafleur for 24th in NHL history.
