NHL Channel Surfing: March 27th Edition

Channel Surfing is Too Many Men On The Site’s quick guide to tonight’s NHL action, as well as any other interesting broadcasts in the world of hockey. Included is a list of the scheduled games, game notes, as well as a pregame warm up song.

Montreal Canadiens @ Detroit Red Wings 7:00 PM

Phoenix Coyotes @ New Jersey Devils 7:00 PM

Los Angeles Kings @ Pittsburgh Penguins 7:00 PM

Chicago Blackhawks @ Boston Bruins 7:00 PM

New York Islanders @ Tampa Bay Lightning 7:30 PM

Carolina Hurricanes @ Florida Panthers 7:30 PM

Minnesota Wild @ St. Louis Blues 8:00 PM

Buffalo Sabres @ Nashville Predators 8:00 PM

Vancouver Canucks @ Colorado Avalanche 9:00 PM

Winnipeg Jets @ San Jose Sharks 10:30 PM

Noteable Noteables:

  • A lot of cross conference action tonight, with three Western Conference teams visiting the Eastern part of the country, as well as a few heading west as well. Even if they aren’t divisional match ups, tonight’s games can still affect the playoff picture for several teams, as the Winnipeg Jets, Phoenix Coyotes, Carolina Hurricanes all try to stay in the NHL Playoffs picture.
  • The Phoenix Coyotes looks to put some more distance between themselves and the Dallas Stars in the standings. Backup goaltender Thomas Greiss will have to step up in the absence of Mike Smith (injured against the New York Rangers on Monday). Greiss was able to hold off the Pittsburgh Penguins for a 3-2 win in his first start. [ NHL.com ]
  • Tuesday’s loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets was the first time in five games that the Detroit Red Wings did not at least earn a point in the standings. They get another chance to keep their playoff hopes alive against a Montreal Canadiens team that has won three straight games.             [ NHL.com ]
  • The Penguins need one point against the Los Angeles Kings tonight in order to clinch a playoff spot. They’ve sat atop the Metropolitan Division since the beginning of the season, so clinching is just a formality at this point. [ NHL.com ]

Best Dressed:

Tonight I will give the best dressed to the Original Six match up between the Chicago Blackhawks and the Boston Bruins. It’s a true classic.
