NHL Channel Surfing: March 21st Edition

Channel Surfing is Too Many Men On The Site’s quick guide to tonight’s NHL action, as well as any other interesting broadcasts in the world of hockey. Included is a list of the scheduled games, game notes, as well as a pregame warm up song.

New York Rangers @ Columbus Blue Jackets 7:00 PM

Carolina Hurricanes @ Chicago Blackhawks 8:00 PM

Boston Bruins @ Colorado Avalanche 9:00 PM

Nashville Predators @ Calgary Flames 9:00 PM

Noteable Noteables:

  • This will be Rick Nash’s first game back at Nationwide Arena since being traded to the New York Rangers back in 2012. The lockout prevented a visit last year, and Nash was out of the lineup with a concussion during the other Rangers visits this season. Tonight is a big game for the Blue Jackets, as they are fighting to stay in the Eastern Conference playoff race.
  • Calgary Flames prospect Kenny Agostino is expected to make his NHL debut tonight. Agostino was acquired in the Jarome Iginla trade with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Agostino finished up a 4 year stint at Yale, scoring 56 goals  and 76 assists. [ ]
  • Both the Chicago Blackhawks and the Colorado Avalanche are pretty much guaranteed to make the playoffs, but now they are both fighting for position in the standings. With their win on Wednesday, the Blackhawks jumped ahead of Colorado in the standings by one point. They still trail the Western Conference leading St. Louis Blues by six points.

Best Dressed:

Tonight I will give the Best Dressed to the New York Rangers and the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Rangers are an Original 6 classic and the Blue Jackets have one of the better modern uniforms in the NHL.

TMMOTS Pregame Warm Up Song:

The Hextalls – “I Don’t Wanna Be A New York Ranger”

If you’re a Jackets fan, you may want to replace that last part with “Never trust a girl in a Rick Nash jersey!”.
