Noteable Noteables:

  • Both the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Dallas Stars had rough weekends; the Stars dropped a 7-2 loss to the Winnipeg Jets, which could have serious implications in the Western Conference Wild Card battle, as both the Coyotes and the Jets are chasing Dallas in the standings. The Penguins hold the second playoff spot in the East, but they were swept by the Philadelphia Flyers in a home and home series.
  • The Columbus Blue Jackets have points in 7 of their last eight games (6-1-1) and enter tonight’s game against the Carolina Hurricanes with a 7-1-0 record against the Hurricanes in their last 8 meetings. The Hurricanes have lost nine in their last twelve games. However, the Jackets are not overlooking the Hurricanes and know tonight will not be an easy game. [ NHL.com ]
  • 12 of the Flyers 15 remaining games will come against teams that started the week in a playoff position. [ NHL.com ]

Best Dressed:

Tonight the honors go to the Boston Bruins and the New Jersey Devils, primarily because the Devils will be wearing their Red and Green throwbacks. The Devils usually break out their old jerseys around St. Patrick’s Day each year. Due to the stadium series game at Yankee Stadium, this will be the second time we will see New Jersey in red and green.
