Noteable Noteables:

  • Roberto Luongo will play against his former team for the first time since the big trade on deadline day. Eddie Lack will be in net for the Canucks.
  • San Jose hit a slump at the mid-point of the season. Since then they have gone 10-2-1 and today face a Rangers team they demolished 9-2 when they last met back in October. [ NHL.com ]
  • Colorado enters today’s game one point ahead of Chicago in the Central Division standings, so every game is a must win in the battle for home ice advantage. The Avalanche face an Ottawa team coming off a devastating loss to the Montreal Canadiens. Chicago faces a Detroit team that has fought on, despite several key injuries.
  • After the Olympic break, both Dallas and Winnipeg were still in the playoff picture. Since then, Winnipeg has fallen out of the race, and Dallas is currently holding on to the final Wild Card spot.
