NHL Channel Surfing: March 12th Edition

Channel Surfing is Too Many Men On The Site’s quick guide to tonight’s NHL action, as well as any other interesting broadcasts in the world of hockey. Included is a list of the scheduled games, game notes, as well as a pregame warm up song.

Boston Bruins @ Montreal Canadiens 7:30 PM [ Preview ]

Vancouver Canucks @ Winnipeg Jets 7:30 PM [ Preview ]

Chicago Blackhawks @ Colorado Avalanche 9:30 PM [ Preview ]

Anaheim Ducks @ Calgary Flames 10:00 PM [ Preview ]

Noteable Noteables:

  • After beating the Calgary Flames 2-1 on Saturday, and then taking a 3-0 lead into the third period Monday against the New York Islanders, things were finally starting to look up for the Vancouver Canucks. Then the Islanders, lacking most of their offensive talent, scored 7 goals to go on to win 7-4. So how does a team bounce back from the one of the worst periods of hockey in the modern era? Honestly I don’t know. I don’t think the Canucks even know anymore. The Winnipeg Jets have lost their last four, but after Monday’s debacle, that’s meaningless.
  • Chicago holds a one point lead over Colorado in the Central Division standings, but the Avalanche hold the tie breaker. A win or shootout loss tonight will give the Avalanche the division lead. This is the final meeting between these two teams, and it appears they will be in a race until the finish. [ NHL.com ]
  • The Anaheim Ducks are looking to snap a three game losing streak and stay with the Blues in the race for the Presidents Trophy. The Ducks are slumping and have lost six of their last nine games. [ NHL.com ]

Best Dressed:

Tonight’s best dressed goes to the Montreal Canadiens and the Boston Bruins. Vancouver and Winnipeg are a distant runner up.
