It is unknown of Peverley’s condition, however it is speculated that this incident is related to a heart condition he has been suffering for a while now.
Back in September, Peverley missed some of the preseason due to an irregular heart beat.
“A couple of days last week [September of 2013], I was feeling a little bit like my heart was racing.” he said. “I think people hear it’s a heart thing and they think it’s life-threatening. It’s not. Normal people have it, and they can go through daily life.” Peverley also went on to say, “I’m not really worried about it. I’m on medication to help me, and if it does come back, it’s not a career threatening thing.” – [StarsBlog]
Instances like these are unfortunate, and it goes to show that professional athletes are as human as the rest of us. The best thing you can do is set aside the sports mentality, and pray for Rich Peverley, who is currently going through a very hard time.
*Update: According to FOX Sports Live, Rich Peverley has regained consciousness and wanted to get back in the game. He has been taken to a local hospital for further evaluations.
