NHL Channel Surfing: March 9th Edition

Channel Surfing is Too Many Men On The Site’s quick guide to tonight’s NHL action, as well as any other interesting broadcasts in the world of hockey. Included is a list of the scheduled games, game notes, as well as a pregame warm up song.

Detroit Red Wings @ New York Rangers 12:30 PM [ Preview ]

Boston Bruins @ Floridan Panthers 5:00 PM [ Preview ]

Chicago Blackhawks @ Buffalo Sabres 7:30 PM [ Preview ]

St. Louis Blues @ Minnesota Wild 8:00 PM [ Preview ]

Los Angeles Kings @ Edmonton Oilers 8:00 PM [ Preview ]

Noteable Noteables:

  • Somehow Detroit always does it. Despite losing Henrik Zetterberg and Pavel Datsyuk to injuries, they are 3-1-1 since hockey resumed from the Olympic Break. Their newly acquired forwards, Gustav Nyquist, Johan Franzen, and David Legwand combined for 4 goals and 11 points in a 7-4 routing of the New Jersey Devils on Friday. [ NHL.com ]
  • Roberto Luongo would have been done with the Boston Bruins if he was still on the Canucks, but after the trade to the Florida Panthers he has to face them one more time. It is likely he will be in net today for Florida. [ NHL.com ]
  • Tonight is Chicago’s only game in five days. They get a nice break until they play the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday.
  • Ryan Miller is undefeated since the trade to the St. Louis Blues.
  • The Kings are on a nice hot streak and are going for their 7th win in a row, which dates back to before the Olympic break.

Best Dressed:

The honors today will have to go to the Original Six match up between the Detroit Red Wings and the New York Rangers.

Mighty Mighty Bosstones – “Riot On Broadstreet”

Riot On Broadstreet is one of the few times where the Bosstones have branched out and strayed from third wave ska. Not what you usually expect from them.
