NHL Channel Surfing: Snow Day

Channel Surfing is Too Many Men On The Site’s quick guide to tonight’s NHL action, as well as any other interesting broadcasts in the world of hockey. Included is a list of the scheduled games, game notes, as well as a pregame warm up song.

Carolina Hurricanes @ Buffalo Sabres 7:00 PM [ Preview ]

Noteable Noteables:

  • The Hurricanes and Sabres bring us back from the Olympic break a day earlier than originally planned. This game was originally scheduled fro February 7th, but mother nature got in the way of that one and snow postponed it until after the break. Carolina won the first meeting back on January 23rd, 5-3.
  • Hurricanes captain Eric Staal on returning from the break: “It has been a long break, but we’re not that far removed. The rust comes off a lot quicker here than a summer break.” [ Courtesy of NHL.com ]
  • Carolina resumes their season on a 5 game road trip, starting in Buffalo before swinging out west to face Dallas, Los Angeles, Anaheim, and San Jose. The Sabres on the other hand start off with three games at home.
  • Buffalo is currently in last place in the Atlantic Division with 38 points. The Hurricanes are currently sitting in sixth in the Metropolitan Division with 61 points.

Best Dressed:

Well can’t really give out a Best Dressed award, but as long as the Sabres aren’t wearing those awful third jerseys, then they deserve some thanks. However, this isn’t too bad of a match up, as the Hurricanes new and improved away jerseys are quite nice (the home jerseys are another story and are a bit plain and boring). The Sabres home jersey should look good matched up against them.

TMMOTS Pregame Warm Up Song:

Goo Goo Dolls – “Laughing”

With Buffalo being the only game on the schedule tonight, I thought I would go with Buffalo’s own, Goo Goo Dolls for the warm up song. This one comes off of their album Hold Me Up, back when they had a much punkier sound and bassist Robby Takac sang the majority of the songs.
