Seattle Expansion Rumors Heat Up: Speculation that Seattle could possibly be one of the cities granted a franchise if / when the NHL decided to expand has not quieted down since it reached fever pitch during the Phoenix Coyotes saga this summer. Officially, the league has not made a decision on expansion, but that doesn’t mean things are going on in the background. According to the Seattle Times, a group from Seattle will be traveling to Vancouver next week to watch a Canucks game and to learn the ropes of owning an NHL franchise. It also will offer up the opportunity for Seattle perspective owners to get to know their future rivals better. [ Seattle Times ]

Sure the rest is welcomed and injuries can heal up, but the games must be an inconvenient pause to the ultimate goal: winning a Stanley Cup. Will the Olympic break affect the race to the playoffs?
