Olympics Channel Surfing: Women's Semifinals Edition

Channel Surfing is Too Many Men On The Site’s quick guide to tonight’s NHL action, as well as any other interesting broadcasts in the world of hockey. Included is a list of the scheduled games, game notes, as well as a pregame warm up song.

Olympics – Women’s Hockey Semifinals

United States vs Sweden 7:30 AM

Canada vs Switzerland 12:00 PM

Noteable Noteables:

  • The Men’s Hockey Tournament has a day off today, with no games scheduled before the Quarterfinals begin on Tuesday. However, we do have two exciting women’s games to watch today.
  • United States forward Julie Chu injured her left hand in practice on Saturday. However, with the US just one win away from the gold medal match, she will play through the pain.
  • The US Women’s team had a four day break between games. Jessie Vetter will start in goal for Team USA. Vetter played great in the US loss to Canada, turning away 28 shots in the 3-2 loss.
  • Switzerland has already achieved their best Olympic performance ever in the Women’s hockey tournament with their 2-0 win over Russia on Saturday. The previous best was a fifth place finish in Vancouver in 2010. Canada is heavily favored in today’s match, having defeated Switzerland 5-0 in their first game at Sochi.

Best Dressed:

With only two games today, there isn’t too much variety to choose from, but today’s best dressed easily goes to the United States and Sweden. Both of these uniforms are some of the best at the 2014 Sochi games.
