Olympics Channel Surfing: Alright Boy's Night Out!

Channel Surfing is Too Many Men On The Site’s quick guide to tonight’s NHL action, as well as any other interesting broadcasts in the world of hockey. Included is a list of the scheduled games, game notes, as well as a pregame warm up song.

Olympics – Men’s Hockey

Czech Republic vs Latvia 3:00 AM [ Preview ]

Sweden vs Switzerland 7:30 AM [ Preview ]

Canada vs Austria 12:00 PM [ Preview ]

Norway vs Finland 12:00 PM [ Preview ]

Noteable Noteables:

  • Just men’s hockey today, as the women’s tournament takes a day break before the quarter finals start on Saturday. Canada, Austria, Norway, and Finland are all playing the second of back to back games. It will be interesting to see if there is any fatigue factor during today’s match ups. However, all four teams should be equally worn out from the first day’s action.
  • Not all of Team Canada will be worn out, as Matt Duchene and P.K. Subban (both scratched in yesterday’s game against Norway) will be in the lineup today to provide a fresh pair of legs to the offense and defense respectively.
  • Both Sweden and Switzerland won their first match ups in the men’s tournament. Only one will remain undefeated after today. Switzerland under performed against a determined Latvia squad, but won in stunning fashion with the 7 seconds left in regulation. Sweden stormed past the Czech Republic, despite not playing their best hockey. Either of these teams could be medal contenders, if they can find their A game.
  • The Czech Republic will attempt to right the ship today against Latvia. Winnipeg Jets goaltender, Ondrej Pavelec will be in net for the Czechs. Latvia will once again be trying to play the spoiler against a much higher ranked team.

Best Dressed:

Norway vs Finland gets the honors today for best dressed. I like the simple jerseys that both teams have, especially the flag motif of the Finland jerseys.

TMMOTS Pregame Warm Up Song:

The Flatliners – Carry The Banner

Going Canadian with today’s pregame warm up with one of my favorite punk bands from Canada, The Flatliners. One of the few bands that started out as a ska band and evolved to just playing straight up punk and actually got better.
