AHL All-Star Classic
2014 AHL All-Star Classic Skills Competition [ Broadcast Info ]
- Before we take a look at the latest Olympics news, tonight is the AHL All-Star Classic Skills Competition. Several networks will be broadcasting the event live at 6:30PM. If it is not live in your region, the NHL Network will have a replay at 10:00 PM (EST).
- Germany lost their first match in Group B play, a 4-1 loss to Team Russia. They will try to earn some points today against Sweden, who defeated Japan in their first game, 1-0. Two teams will emerge from Group B and either Russia or Sweden can pretty much lock the group up with wins today.
- Group A action has been exciting; the United States defeated Switzerland 9-0 yesterday, which included a record breaking 3 goal streak in the span of 55 seconds. Canada and Finland remained scoreless into the third yesterday, but eventually the Canadians were able to jump ahead. Yesterday’s results had to be a boost of confidence for the US team, as not only was the performance against Switzerland a confidence booster, but Canada’s struggles against Finland shows that the US has a chance to win Gold.
- While the women’s tournament has provided some great hockey, every hockey fan is looking forward to Wednesday. Not only will it be the first meeting between the United States and Canada women’s teams, but the Men’s tournament also begins.
Today I will have to go with Germany vs Sweden. The bright yellow Swedish uniforms will look great against the black / yellow / red colors of Germany’s uniform.
