Olympics Channel Surfing: Waiting For the Big One

Channel Surfing is Too Many Men On The Site’s quick guide to tonight’s NHL action, as well as any other interesting broadcasts in the world of hockey. Included is a list of the scheduled games, game notes, as well as a pregame warm up song.

Olympics – Women’s Hockey

United States vs Switzerland 5:00 AM

Finland vs Canada 10:00 AM

Noteable Noteables:

  • The United States and Canada swap will swap their opponents from the first day of the Women’s tournament. The US defeated Finland 3-1, so Canada may find some stiffer competition than when they faced against Switzerland. Even though Switzerland lost 5-0, Swiss goaltender Florence Schelling had a great performance in net. There is only so much you can do when the opposition puts 69 pucks on net.
  • This could be a case of the classic trap game for the United States. Canada walked over Switzerland in round one, but the United States needs to remain on their A-game. Finland gave the United States a game and they will try to do something against Canada. The Canadian team may welcome the competition, as the game against the Swiss was nothing more than a glorified practice.
  • Wednesday marks the first day of the Men’s tournament, but a lot of hockey fans have the date circled on their calendars for another reason; that will be the first meeting between the US and Canadian Women’s teams. They are the favorites for the Gold Medal game, and this will be their first opportunity to test each other out at Sochi.

Best Dressed:

Today’ the Best Dressed goes to the United States vs Switzerland match up. I love the Team USA jerseys this year and the Swiss jerseys will make for a very nice looking game.

TMMOTS Pregame Warm Up Song:

Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers

We will be going with much more patriotic songs when Team USA plays in either the Men’s or Women’s tournament.
