Noteable Noteables:

  • Tonight would be a good night to have NHL GameCenter Live (they aren’t paying me to say that, it’s actually a pretty useful service to have if you are a NHL fan), as there are 11 games on tonight, the majority of which are in the 7:00-7:30 time slot. On a night like this I like to fire up Twitter and keep track of the action and jump from game to game. For all you night owls, only one late game tonight and it’s a good one: the Columbus Blue Jackets take on the Los Angeles Kings. Make sure you follow both team accounts on Twitter for that one, as hilarity usually ensues.
  • Paul Maurice somehow has the Winnipeg Jets back in playoff contention. In the time prior to Claude Noel‘s firing, it appeared that Winnipeg was out, especially since they were in the high powered Western Conference. Jets forward Blake Wheeler has 7 points in his last six games.
  • Goaltenders Carey Price and Roberto Luongo find themselves on opposite ends of the ice tonight, but in one week they will both be representing Team Canada. The competition will not end tonight, as either of them could end up with the starting job in Sochi.
  • It isn’t often that we get to say nice things about the Edmonton Oilers, but during their recent 4-1-0 stretch, 2012 first overall pick Nail Yakupov has four points and is starting to show signs of improvement.

Best Dressed:

Tonight’s best dressed match up has to the the Edmonton Oilers and the New York Rangers. Love or hate the Rangers, their uniforms are legendary. Now that the Oilers are back in their original bright blue and orange colors, they have never looked better.

TMMOTS Pregame Warm Up Song:

Theme From the Littlest Hobo

Any MvsW listeners out there will get a kick out of this one. If you don’t listen to Marek vs Wyshynski, well, as they say…that’s hobo style.
