Report: NHL To Hold Four Outdoor Games Next Season

As the focus of the hockey world is on Yankee Stadium for this evening’s third game of this season’s Stadium Series, the NHL is already looking ahead to potential outdoor games for next year.  TSN’s Daren Dreger is reporting that the league is looking at having four outdoor games next season with a large group of teams vying to host them.
Even beyond next season there are rumblings that the league has already selected a location for the 2016 Heritage Classic.
These outdoor games have been a financial windfall for the league that has been using them to make up for the lost revenue from last year’s lockout.

Money a side its still too many games. The on ice product rarely lives up to the hype. I could handle two outdoor games, but no more. Winter classic and Heritage are enough.
