Quick Shifts: Stadium Series; Listless Canadiens; Detroit Red Wings

As the first game of the NHL’s Stadium Series in Los Angeles approaches, yesterday saw the first true test of the makeshift rink in Dodger Stadium as Kings legend Luke Robitaille and some celebrity friends took to the ice for a game of shinny Wednesday afternoon. With a few lineup changes to attempt to spark the team, the Montreal Canadiens came out completely flat Wednesday night losing to the Pittsburgh Penguins 5-1. The Habs looked disinterested from the opening faceoff and continue their fall down the Eastern Conference standings that could see them drop below the Toronto Maple Leafs tonight. Montreal has been on a slide lately that has had a lot of fans putting pressure on the head coach. [Sportsnet.ca]

The Detroit Red Wings picked up a very important two points Wednesday night with a big shootout victory over the Chicago Blackhawks. The win kept them even with the Columbus Blue Jackets for the final wildcard spot in the Eastern Conference playoff race.  [TSN.ca]
