Earlier today, the NHL named the three stars of the week, and it was pretty obvious who would top the list.
First star: John Tavares, New York Islanders
Tavares racked up the stats this week. He had a five point game against the Dallas Stars on January 6th. He scored a hat trick and had two assists in the game.
Tavares managed to scored four goals, and added six assists for a total of ten points in just five games.
Second star: Jonas Hiller, Anaheim Ducks
A notable game for Jonas Hiller was January 7th, where he stood on his head the entire game in a 5-2 win over the Boston Bruins. In addition to that, he also recorded a shutout in a 1-0 win over the Detroit Red Wings.
Hiller was 3-0-0 this week with a 1.67 goals-against average and a .947% save percentage.
Third star: Henrik Lundqvist, New York Rangers
Henrik Lundqvist had a pretty decent week with a record of 3-0-1. He managed to keep his goals against average just below 2.00 with 1.97 goals against, as well as a .943 save percentage.
Lundqvist managed to drag the Rangers into third place in the Metropolitan Division, standing below the second place Washington Capitals and the first place Pittsburgh Penguins.
