Nathan Horton To Make His Debut

It’s time to smile Columbus Blue Jackets fans. Remember Nathan Horton? He underwent shoulder surgery in July of last year; then signed a seven-year contract worth a reported $37.1 million with Columbus. Horton is set to make his debut tonight in Phoenix.

“It’s not 100 percent, but there is a very good chance he will play,” coach Todd Richards said after Horton participated in an optional practice yesterday at Jobing.com Arena. “It may not happen, but there is a really good chance.” BlueJackets Xtra

Horton was one of the big name free agents last off-season, and he bolted out of Boston and surprised many hockey people when he landed in a small-market city. While with the Boston Bruins, Horton had 107 points in 169 games.

Horton has taken part in Blue Jackets practice. He has been able to take and dishing hits during drills.

“I don’t think there is any pain at all,” Richards said. “There shouldn’t be pain. Maybe a little soreness, but that’s common.” BlueJackets Xtra

Horton was drafted 3rd overall in 2003 by the Florida Panthers. He has played for three NHL teams.
