Here are your NHL trade rumors for December 18:
According to Pierre LeBrun the Senators have shifted their search from a puck moving defenseman to a top-six forward with the improvement of Jared Cowen and call up of Cody Ceci. No trades are imminent however.
The Fourth Period has reported that the Oilers are looking to trade Linus Omark who, according to a Swedish newspaper, has requested a trade. Oilers GM Craig MacTavish is looking for a defenseman but unless a bigger deal is made the return for Omark might only be a draft pick.
The Canes are going to have to move a goalie at some point according to Luke DeCock. DeCock also said that it is unlikely Cam Ward will be moved and with both Justin Peters and Anton Khudobin‘s contracts being up at the end of the season one of them will likely go. At this point Peters is the most valuable of the two.
Toronto Maple Leafs:
Darren Dreger had a lot to say about the Leafs. He said that GM Dave Nonis is going to have to clean up this mess and rival GMs have said that Jake Gardiner is available. Dreger said that it is time to ask what Gardiner’s log-term future is on the Leafs and it will take a top-six forward for him to go anywhere. As far as Randy Carlyle is concerned Dreger doesn’t believe that a coaching change will be made this season.
