Nardone’s Picks: December 13

This is a new segment I’m starting called “Nardone’s Picks.” Every Friday, I will do a preview of each game on Friday and predict a winner. I hope you all tell me what you think below in the comment section. Let’s start this off already.FRIDAY, DECEMBER 13:

Dec 9, 2013; Pittsburgh, PA, USA; Pittsburgh Penguins head coach Dan Bylsma (right center) talks to defenseman Matt Niskanen (2) and defenseman Kris Letang (58) and center Brandon Sutter (16) during a time-out against the Columbus Blue Jackets in the third period at the CONSOL Energy Center. The Penguins won 2-1. Mandatory Credit: Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

New Jersey Devils at Pittsburgh Penguins-7:00 PM (MSG PLUS, ROOT)

The New Jersey Devils (12-12-6) play the Pittsburgh Penguins (21-10-1) for the third time this season. The first meeting was at Consol Energy Center, where Marc-Andre Fleury shut out the Devils 3-0, but when they faced the Devils in Newark, Jaromir Jagr scored two goals en route to a 4-1 victory. This will be a good game to watch and I think Pittsburgh will take the win. Sidney Crosby is going to shine tonight and lead his team past the Devils. PREDICTION: Penguins 5 – Devils 3.

Dec 10, 2013; Washington, DC, USA; Washington Capitals players celebrate after their game against the Tampa Bay Lightning at Verizon Center. The Capitals won 6-5 in a shootout. Mandatory Credit: Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Washington Capitals at Florida Panthers-7:30 PM (CSN-DC, FS-F)

The Washington Capitals (17-12-2) visit the Florida Panthers (10-17-5) for the first game at BB&T Center this season. This is their second meeting this year, after a nail-biting 3-2 shootout victory for Washington back in November. Tuesday night was big for Alex Ovechkin, who scored four goals to beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 6-5 in a shootout, and Florida just beat the Detroit Red Wings 3-2 in a shootout on Tuesday. I think the Panthers will put up a hard fight, but the Capitals will win it in the overtime period. PREDICTION: Capitals 4 – Panthers 3 (OT).

Dec 9, 2013; Vancouver, British Columbia, CAN; Vancouver Canucks head coach John Tortorella speakes to the players during the third period against the Carolina Hurricanes at Rogers Arena. The Vancouver Canucks won 2-0. Mandatory Credit: Anne-Marie Sorvin-USA TODAY Sports

Edmonton Oilers at Vancouver Canucks-9:00 PM (CBC)

The Edmonton Oilers (11-18-3) visit the Vancouver Canucks (18-10-5) in a big Canadian battle. It will be a physical battle, as a win for Edmonton would get them out of last place in the Pacific, and a win for Vancouver would put them one point behind the San Jose Sharks for third place. This will be a good game to stay up and watch. Although I like the Oilers, I think Daniel Sedin will lead the Canucks past the struggling Oilers and get a few points for the Canucks. PREDICTION: Canucks 5 – Oilers 2.
