Here are your NHL trade rumors for December 12:
According to Elliotte Friedman the Panthers have had serious talks with the Colorado Avalanche regarding Dmitry Kulikov. Tim Thomas could be targeted at the trade deadline but he has a no-movement clause in his contract.
The Canes have decided to keep all three goalies, Cam Ward, Anton Khudobin, and Justin Peters, on the roster until they decide who they want to keep. General Manager Jim Rutherford has pulled back on the trade front. He was looking into Michael Del Zotto and Jake Gardiner but their teams were not willing to take on salary.
Toronto Maple Leafs:
Elliotte Friedman reported that Dion Phaneuf contract talks were supposed to start this week. The Fourth Period said in regards to these talks that it was reported in October Phaneuf was looking for 7 million but it is unclear whether the Leafs will be willing to give him that much.
James Mirtle said that if the Leafs are looking to mix it up with forwards they should look into to Shawn Matthias of the Panthers, he is big and can play center.
The Sabres could use their compliance buyout on Ville Leino during the off-season according to Elliotte Friedman. Friedman also said that with the Henrik Lundqvist signing the Sabres know the market for Ryan Miller though Ted Nolan doesn’t really want to see him go.
Bucky Gleason reported that Nolan is committed to fixing Tyler Myers and Drew Stafford but nobody on the Sabres are untouchable. Steve Ott and Matt Moulson are unrestricted free agents at the end of the season but could be gone before that.
