NHL Injury Update: Howard, Hedman, Smith, Quick, Brassard

Here is your NHL injury update for December 12:

Jimmy Howard will have an MRI tomorrow to assess his knee injury but the initial prognosis is that he will be out 1-2 weeks. He was hurt during Detroit Red Wings practice when he kicked his knee out to make a save.

Victor Hedman will be out of the Tampa Bay Lightning line up for at least another week. He has not made any progress in his recovery since being injured December 5th.

Mike Smith will start tonight for the Phoenix Coyotes after being sidelined with an illness for a few days. He said he is at 100 percent health and ready to play.

Jonathan Quick should be back in the Los Angeles Kings line up by the end of the year, not that the Kings are doing too bad without him. This means he will likely be back in time for the Olympics.

Derick Brassard will be out of the New York Rangers line up tonight due to a “sore posterior”. He tested the injury this morning but couldn’t push off without discomfort. He is considered day to day.
