Quick Shifts: Jared Cowen,Florida Panthers Glass Problem, Ryan Callahan

The NHL has decided that Jared Cowen will sit two games for an illegal check to the head. Last night Cowen hit Buffalo Sabres forward Zemgus Girgensons last night. Sitting two games means that Cowen will not be on the ice Thursday when the Senators and Sabres take the ice in Ottawa. Check out Hockey Buzz for more.

As if NHL small market teams didn’t have it hard enough; the Florida Panthers couldn’t correctly replace the broken glass behind the net in last night’s game vs. the Detroit Red Wings. The on-ice crew was unable to remove the paper that protects the new glass from being scratched. If you paid for those seats wouldn’t you pitch a fit? Well, as reported by CBSSports ; its seems that the fans didn’t think to find new seats.

The New York Rangers are having a rough year, and now it’s about to get worse. The Rangers will be without one of their star forwards. Ryan Callahan will be out 4-6 weeks with a knee sprain. Callahan has had an injury plagued season he missed seven games between Oct. 19 and Nov. 2 because of a broken thumb. Currently Callahan has seven goals and 13 points in 24 games. SI.com has more details.

Thanks for check out Quick Shifts.
