Steven Stamkos Injury Update: Surgery Success

Oct 27, 2013; Sunrise, FL, USA; Tampa Bay Lightning center Steven Stamkos (91) skates before a game against the Florida Panthers at BB

It was reported today that Tampa Bay Lightning general manager Steve Yzerman has said that Steven Stamkos‘s surgery has gone well according to twitter:

There is no development as far as a timetable for Stamkos’s return to the line up but it shouldn’t take too long as Stamkos is only 22 years old. Stamko’s potential Team Canada team mate Matt Duchene said that he suffered from a similar injury when he was 12.

3 months in a cast would mean that it would be mid January before Stamkos started skating. This is good news for the Olympics as it would give him another month to become healthy enough to play. Again we hope Stamkos has a speedy recovery and wish him all the best.
