Yesterday Nail Yakupov‘s agent talked to the media saying that he was going to Edmonton to talk to the Edmonton Oilers bout how his client was being used. His agent then proceeded to say that Yakupov was open to be traded to any team. He then went on to say that Yakupov isn’t getting enough support to improve his game.
Today Yakupov himself spoke to the media:
“I just want to help my team win every game. I love this city and I want to play for this team”
The media then talked to him about his ice-time. According to Ryan Dittrick even though Yakupov didn’t say out right that the situation was unfair he did say that he believes he should play more.
With this out burst by his agent I would expect that some action with Yakupov is coming down the line. This isn’t the first time agents have gotten involved in this kind of situation. The most recent instance is Jake Gardiner‘s agent tweeting #freeGardiner when Jake was playing in the AHL last season for an extended period of time after his concussion. In Yakupov’s case this could either get him traded or get him more ice time, only time will tell what happens.
