Philadelphia Flyers: Team Meeting/Giroux Walks Out

The Philadelphia Flyers are one of the worst teams in the NHL. After another loss; this time but the New Jersey Devils; the Flyers had a long team meeting. Team meetings are a common thing in sports, but over the past few season there has been little need for one in Philadelphia.

Tim Panaccio posted on his twitter feed last night that Flyers star Claude Giroux left and wouldn’t talk after the game. Giroux has had an awful year so far. In 15 games played Giroux has yet to light the lamp, and is a -11 on the season. This is by far one of the worst goalless stretches of hockey he has had in his career, and his frustration seems to be mounting.

The Flyers are currently sitting in 29th place in the NHL with a dismal 9 points on the season. The Flyers are dead last in goals for, and are 20th in goals agents. (NHL.com) It is getting close to the time of year when coaches start to be fired, and trade rumors start to heat up.

If the team meeting doesn’t work, and if Giroux doesn’t find his game look for the Flyers to be in the news for all the wrong reasons. To rub salt in the wound; Flyers fans have taken to booing their team. There is a dark cloud over Philadelphia, and only the Flyers can make it sunny in Philadelphia again.
