Dave Bolland suffered a leg laceration during the Toronto Maple Leafs game against the Vancouver Canucks. The cut was a result of a hit by Zack Kassian. Leafs coach Randy Carlyle said after the game that Bolland’s injury is similar to the one Erik Karlsson suffered last season. Bolland reportedly left the arena on a stretcher and will be heading to a Vancouver-area hospital to have surgery on the leg tonight.

James Mirtle speculated on how long Bolland would be out based on Karlsson’s injury. He said Bolland could miss 35+ games if the severity of the injury is similar to Karlsson’s. Nothing else is known at this point in regards to the injury or when a return would be possible.

The Leafs went on to lose the game 4-0 to the Canucks. Bolland has been a star player for the Leafs and this loss could be detrimental to their recent success. Hopefully Bolland’s injury is not as severe as Karlsson’s.
