Top 15 Draft Picks, Where Are They? How Are They Doing?

1. Nathan MacKinnon, C, Colorado Avalanche

  • Nathan MacKinnon has began to blossom beautifully in the NHL at an early level. He’s playing on Colorado’s third line, but has still put up seven points in nine games this season.

2. Aleksander Barkov,  C, Florida Panthers

  • Barkov is only 18 years old, and he’s proven to be a great pick for the Panthers. Barkov has scored three goals, and added four assists, for seven points in his first ten games in the NHL.

3. Jonathan Drouin, LW, Tampa Bay Lightning

  • The Lightning have opted to take the long term, and patient route with Drouin. The Lightning sent him back to juniors to play with the Halifax Mooseheads before the start of the season. Drouin has three goals and six assists in six games so far.

4. Seth Jones, D, Nashville Predators

  • Seth Jones earned his roster spot on the Predators, and he struggled a bit out of the gate, but has played better lately. Jones has two goals and two assists in ten games this season.

5. Elias Lindholm, C, Carolina Hurricanes

  • Lindholm has seen a bit of ice time with the Hurricanes this season. He’s skate in five games thus far, scoring one goal.

6. Sean Monahan, C, Calgary Flames

  • Monahan has played great for the Flames this season. He earned his spot, and the Flames opted to keep him instead of sending him back to the minors. Monahan has six goals and three assists in nine games this season.

7. Darnell Nurse, D, Edmonton Oilers

  • The Oilers decided that Nurse wasn’t ready for the NHL just yet, and sent him back to the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds for a bit more seasoning. Nurse has a +3 rating, one goal and nine assists in ten games in the juniors.

8. Rasmus Ristolainen, D, Buffalo Sabres

  • Ristolainen has played in eight Sabres games this season. He’s yet to record a point, and holds a -4 rating on the season with the struggling Sabres. He was sent back to the junior level while he was still eligible.

9. Bo Horvat, C, Vancouver Canucks

  • The Canucks decided to move Horvat back to the London Knights to play some more in the juniors. Horvat has scored five goals and six assists in eight games in London.

10. Valeri Nichushkin, RW, Dallas Stars

  • Nichushkin has skated in seven games for the Stars this season. He’s accounted for a single assist so far this season.

11. Samuel Morin, D, Philadelphia Flyers

  • The Flyers sent Morin to the juniors to continue playing for the Rimouski Oceanic. Morin has a -2 rating, two goals, and two assists in eight games so far.

12. Max Domi, C, LW, Phoenix Coyotes

  • Phoenix decided to keep Domi in the minors to play with the London Knights. Domi has accounted for a goal and four assists in five games this season.

13. Joshua Morrissey, D, Winnipeg Jets

  • Morrissey was sent to the Prince Albert Raiders to continue playing at the junior level. Morrissey has three goals and nine assists in eleven games this season, and has a +3 rating.

14. Alexander Wennberg, C, Columbus Blue Jackets

  • Wennberg will continue to play in Sweden this season.

15. Ryan Pulock, D, New York Islanders

  • Pulock will be playing in the juniors with the Brandon Wheat Kings this season. Pulock has four goals and five assists in seven games with a -2 rating.
