The New York Rangers have not gotten off to the start they had hoped they would. They are in 14th place in the East, and only have scored 11 goals. Not only has their offense been struggling, starting goalie Henrik Lundqvist has not been on his game. Now, it seems he may be hurt.
It looks like their $6,875,000 goaltender may need to sit out Thursdays game vs. the Philadelphia Flyers. Lundqvist was unable to practice for the second straight day. NHL.com has reported that Lundqvist is questionable with a “minor issue“.
He’s getting better. He’s got something that he’s been dealing with here for a little bit of time, and since we had four days in between games we figured it was the right time to try and nip this in the bud here.” Alain Vigneault/NHL.com
If Lundqvist is unable to play; look for rookie back up Cam Talbot to get the start. For the season Henrik is 2-4-0, with a GAA of 3.45 and a SV% of .890.
We’re going to need him to play here, we have eight games in 15 nights so we’re going to need him to play whether it’s Thursday or after that,” Vigneault said of Talbot on Tuesday. “I’m confident he’ll be real good for us. blueshirtssunited.com
Lundqvist is in the last year of his contract, and will be a UFA at the end of this year. With numbers like this are we looking at a changing of the guard in New York?
